Patty Scanlon (1960 – 2011)

Patty Scanlon passed away at 4:22 am EST on June 22, 2011.  She was born August 13, 1960 in Indianapolis, Indiana the daughter of Marguerite & William Scanlon.  She is known for her infectious laugh, knowing how to play and her love for learning.  To Patty life was a journey and now she has journeyed to another place,  She taught us a lot about living and about dying.

Patty was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Registered Play Therapist and Supervisor, A Continuing Education Provider for the Association of Play Therapy, Board Certified Diplomat in Clinical Social Work and held a Certification in Clinical Hypnosis.  She was owner and president of PlayJourneys, a private practice specializing in play and experiential therapies for children.  She also did training, supervision, workshops and consultation.

Patty loved her music and could break into a show tune at any time.  She also loved waking up to Bob & Tom in the morning on Q95.  She cherished the Wizard of Oz, Pooh, Mr. Rogers and Wicked.

Patty is survived by her husband, Vince Failla, her parents; children/dogs: Shiva, Erin, Plato and Kali; Sisters Susan (Jim) Drinks; Catherine (Henri) Bonne; nieces Elizabeth Bonne, Emily Drinks; and nephews Ben Bonne, Jimmy and David Drinks.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Play Therapy c/o Association for Play Therapy noting “Research” on the memo line.
